There seems to be a lot of confusion on many New Age sites all over the Internet. People expect or even predict mass UFO landings, see spiritual aspects in the approach of comets, publish information that is said to have been channeled from beings belonging to alien civilizations, or expect the properties of our physical universe to change dramatically overnight.
Why is this? I believe that these ideas are nothing but a reflection
of the growing cosmic consciousness within us. More specifically, we
are becoming aware of what we are, why we are here, where 'here'
exactly is, and that there is a purpose to all of this.
But such a realization does not come overnight. First we realize that
something must be there. Then we start looking for it.
And we find that there is indeed something, and we begin to suspect what
it is, and how it is. And only after a long, long journey of learning
and discovery, we may find out the details about it.
The problem is that we perceive the universe through the limits of our
physical existence. What we perceive is "distorted", if you
will, by our physical three-dimensional frame of reference. So many of
us find it extremely difficult to grasp the nature of our existence while
restricted to this physical universe.
Here's the important part: most of us, being restricted to the
physical level in both observation and thought, mistake the universe
for something that exists outside themselves, instead of inside of
them. They observe a phenomenon and consider it an external process,
and they start to look for external causes and results. But what we
all observe here and now is actually a change that is taking place
within us, on a spiritual level and not on the physical
level.
Yet people try to treat these matters on a physical level. They become
aware of our true identity and relation to the universe on a spiritual
level, but only a small part of that awareness seeps through to the
physical level, and becomes distorted by a frame of reference that was
not really designed to hold such ideas. As a result, people start to look
for physical causes and results, related to what is essentially a spiritual
matter.
And that's where the confusion starts. Stories about mass UFO landings
come into existence, people start worrying about a "Photon Belt"
and wonder what it will do to a nation-wide power grid, and we read about
Galactic Command Forces that will take over our society and solve all our
problems for us by taking over the planet and disbanding our existing
governments.
The bottom line is this: the change that is taking place right now is very
real, but it occurs within us, on a spiritual level. We should
stop to look for causes and results of this change outside
ourselves, on the physical level. We should also stop to think about
the universe as something that exists outside ourselves, because it
doesn't. The universe exists within us, within all of us, and
the causes and results of spiritual development can only be found
right there, within us. Whatever we may perceive of this change on the
physical level is just a 'secondary' manifestation, things that 'seep
through' from the spiritual level to the physical one.
The signs of this spiritual process that we may find at the physical
level are necessarily distorted. Looking for causes and results on the
physical level will therefore invariably lead to distorted information.
We have seen proof of this recently: stories about the Photon Belt
are based upon incorrect information (e.g. our solar system does
NOT orbit the Pleiades), no mass UFO landings have
occurred on 17 December 1996, and the Hale-Bopp comet that is currently
approaching us is quite mundane, with an interesting (but not spectacular)
footnote that a few chunks of core material seem to have been ejected from
the cometary nucleus, something that has also happened to many other
comets.
Yet there is a lot of misinformation about these matters being circulated
right now, and many people take this seriously. There is a lot of 'parroting'
going on (i.e. people repeat each other without really understanding what they
talk about). Many don't know what to believe and what to discard. Some even
panic, and confusion rules.
There is no need for all this confusion. There is only one thing to keep in mind: Search for the answers only within yourself. Stop watching the heavens for Signs. Stop hoping for alien civilizations to come over and solve our problems. Instead, look within yourself for the questions and the answers. Because only there you may find the undistorted truth.
